AG-HMC40 Handheld Dual-Use AVCCAM Camcorder
The dual-use, 2.2-lb. AG-HMC40 maximizes your creative potential and business opportunities by recording 10.6-megapixel stills and gorgeous Full HD video onto inexpensive, ubiquitous SD cards. This camcorder with full HD resolution imagers records for up to 12 hours of AVCHD video on a single 32GB SD card, or in its 24Mbps PH mode*, up to 3 hours of 1920 x 1080 or 1280 x 720 video quality, delivering images far superior to HDV. And unlike HDV tapes, SD cards with AVCHD content can be randomly accessed and immediately played back on a growing number of affordable consumer playback devices.

Thanks for telling me about the NXCAM i haven’t seen it yet but i was wondering is it actually out yet? And i hope it will be a good price when it is

I’m looking at the HMC150 also.. and the new Sony NXCAM. I really would like 1080/60p though unless it’s just a gimmick.

@rnickeymouse Your right but im going to save up for the Hmc150 because i need something more professional but if you dont have alot of money go for the tm700
about 5 months ago
What really is disappointing is the new tm700 does 1080/60p. The tm700 replaces the tm300. The tm300 was basically the hmc40 on the inside. Better off buying the tm700 for half the price.

To people thinking of buying this camcorder i thought it was a great one at first but. One problem is that the lens and 3mos chips are the same as in some of the consumers camcorder so basically they have put it in bigger case. And its alot more your better saving up for the AG-HMC150.

It would be perfect if it took 12.2mp still pictures

How would this camcord be for shooting in a night club? Would it require an LED light?
Sorry for bothering again. But what would the upsites of this cam be, compared to my HDR-XR520. Because this camcorder i currently got has an amazing HDD on 240gb and it has awsome HD-quality on both daylighted images and very low lighted. It even has a TOYALLY darkness recordning mode.
What does make this camcorder better? I’m just doing as much research as i can

I would check the web to learn more A-Data. Buying a Class 10 card is the right thing, because its made for high-res HD video. The 40 records at 4 quality levels. At the lowest level, you can record up to 6 hrs on a 16GB card, and at the highest level (22-25Mbps), you can record for 1-1/2 hrs. Theres many ways to transfer footage: directly from camera to computer, or by placing the SD card in computers SD slot, or by using an USB-to-SD adapter, which are inexpensive.

Okey thanks for the reply. I think i’m 85% sure i’m going to buy this camcorder, i just need to know the last details.
If the different SD cards has any impact on the video quality.
How long it shoots on a 32gb card in best quality.
And if you need anything that dosent come with the cam, to actually transfer the files proberly.
I hope you can help me with these things before i buy the camcorder
Thanks.

You do not need to use Panasonic SD cards for this camera. We’d like you to, but that’s your choice. You can use other brands. Using a Class 10 card is the right way to go since it gives you a faster transfer speed for your footage.

Does other SD cards than Panasonic work with this? Let’s say a A-Data16GB Class 10?

@enjoiskate11 all this camera needs is the letusmini. It’s so small you wouldn’t even need support brackets. $877 dollars to fit the HMC40

It should be more than enough just make sure your Editing software and computer can handle the files or you have a nice work flow for conversion.
